Individual Lessons:
Each lesson begins with a few key questions.
Mostly just trying to get a feel for what the student wants out of their game, what their goals are
and how badly they want to achieve these goals. After this brief interview, we begin hitting shots.
I use this time and the information received during the interview to determine a plan or approach
that will help us reach our goal. Length of lesson is determined by achievement and by physical or
mental stamina. Following the lesson we will write out the key points made in a notebook to be kept by the student.
Junior Lessons:
Junior lessons are for
children ages 10-17. They last from 30 minutes to an hour and are designed to make learning the game of golf fun.
Goal oriented games are helpful and make each student strive to do better the next time. Much time is
spent on the course where rules of the game are learned as they come up. These lessons are the foundation
from which the child will learn. Notebooks are also beneficial in keeping a record of progress and of
the changes in the swing over time.
Next generation education:
Lessons for children
ages 5-10. Playing is our number one focus. We have games on the driving range, putting green and on the course
that spark interest in the game of golf. Very limited talk of how to play is needed since the child is at an age of
discovery and of "figuring it out" on their own. I guide the education and facilitate the learning using positive
attention to important aspects. The students also keep a notebook mainly to fill with stickers. Stars are given for
productive moments. Any notes are for the teacher´s benefit.
Playing Lesson:
Used with almost every student
to bring the knowledge learned on the range to the actual playing field. I recommend playing lessons for all
my students and feel that without a planned approach based on knowledge and ability, the student has little chance
to play to their potential. We will look at each situation as a "problem to be solved". We then take our knowledge
of the physics of the game and our understanding of the swing to produce an ideal solution. From there we execute
the shot. These lessons are extremely beneficial for all types of players. They can be as short as hitting tee
shots on one difficult hole or as long as playing 3 holes in succession.
Group Lessons:
This type of lesson is designed
for any level player and can be from two to five students. Before beginning, a brief interview must be held to
outline the purpose or goal of the group and the time needed to accomplish that goal. From one hour to a six hour
block will be chosen. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or combined into a one day golf school.
Golf School:
3 hour Block Lesson: A class designed
to accommodate the golfer with limited time. This lesson covers the basic fundamentals of the shape of the swing,
dynamics of ball flight and short game.
